Why We Flipped the Script on ‘Healthy’ Snacks

Let’s be real for a second....


Most so-called “healthy” snacks? They’re a lie wrapped in fancy packaging.

We’re not here to name names—but if you’ve ever picked up a protein bar that tasted like drywall, or a “low-carb” cookie loaded with gut-bomb sugar alcohols, you know exactly what we’re talking about.

At Caked, we didn’t set out to start just another snack brand.
We started this because we were done watching high-performing individuals—and people managing serious health conditions like diabetes—forced to choose between flavorless health food and sugary garbage pretending to be nutritious.

So we flipped the script. Completely.


The Moment It Snapped

Erika, co-founder of Caked, has a background in chemistry and over a decade in the medical industry. She’s also a fitness addict and someone who doesn’t settle for “good enough.” One day, standing in a supplement store aisle, she turned to Shane and said,

“Why do they all taste like punishment?”

That question turned into a mission:
To create a snack that’s not only clean and functional—but so good, you’d crave it.

We wanted something a diabetic could enjoy without guilt, something an athlete could use to refuel and recover, and something a parent could trust to throw in a lunchbox—with zero compromise on taste or texture.


Here’s the Problem With ‘Healthy’

The health food industry has been getting away with nonsense for too long.

  • Misleading labels: “Keto-friendly” but spiking your blood sugar.

  • Low-quality ingredients: Fillers, gums, artificial aftertastes.

  • No joy: Because apparently, healthy means flavorless.

We weren’t okay with that.
You shouldn’t be either.


What We Did Differently

Caked treats are:

High-protein – to fuel your body, workouts, and daily grind

Because we believe being health-conscious shouldn’t feel like a punishment. It should feel like power.

We’re in the lab working on products that will be American Diabetes Association (ADA) certified, because diabetic people deserve snacks they love—and that love them back.

We’re building a community of brand reps, trainers, parents, veterans, and go-getters who believe in better.
